Alpine Wedding Above the Mer de Glace in Chamonix

Chugging up the valley on the Montenvers railway our eyes are drawn to the great rock walls above upon which were traced some of the most critical lines in alpinism, from the Bonatti pillar on the Dru, to the Walker spur and the Colton Macintyre on the Grands Jorasses, this is very much the stuff of dreams.

Overlooking the Mer de Glace, the Montenvers hotel is everything you could hope for in a location, at once iconic and charming. Bright splashes of colour from wildflowers in full bloom break up the vertical lines of the granite walls that stretch into the deep blue. It doesn’t get much better.

Alex and Flo’s wedding was a joy, the old refuge humming with excitement and laughter as they celebrated with friends and family. From the details, the dress, the suit, the speeches to the location, the music, the smiles, this was one of those days when every little aspect comes together to create something unique, truly the stuff of dreams.
